President Donald Trump has been briefed on this evening’s mid-air collision between a regional jet and a military helicopter.

“I have been fully briefed on the terrible accident which just took place at Reagan National Airport. May God Bless their souls,” Trump said in a statement. “Thank you for the incredible work being done by our first responders. I am monitoring the situation and will provide more details as they arise.”

An American Eagle commuter flight, operated by PSA, flying from Wichita, Kansas, apparently collided with a helicopter as it landed at Washington Reagan National Airport this evening.

AA 5342 apparently was scheduled to have 60 passengers on board.

The regional jet was a Bombardier CRJ700, Fox News Channel reported. The helicopter was reportedly a military Sikorsky H-60.
