Where are people traveling this fall?

As travelers look ahead to fall, AAA booking data has revealed two travel categories are seeing more demand than last year: flights and cruises.

Domestic flights are up 1%, and international flights are up 3%. Domestic cruise bookings are up a whopping 19% over last fall, and international cruise bookings are up 6%.

Travelers are paying about the same as they did last fall.

The average domestic roundtrip ticket is $660, and the average international roundtrip ticket is $1,315. The average cost of a cruise from a domestic city is similar to last fall — $2,355 — while the average cost of an international cruise is up 1% to $3,560.

Travelers taking fall road trips find lower gas prices than in the summer.

From June to August, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline was $3.47 per gallon. The average price is $3.21.
