Report: 2.9% of flights were canceled in July

According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Air Travel Consumer Report, 2.9% of flights were canceled in July 2024.

That is higher than the year-to-date cancellation rate of 1.7% in 2024, the feds said.

In July 2024, U.S. airlines operated 657,233 flights, a 5.47% increase over the 623,120 flights in July 2023 and a 2.14% increase over the 643,484 flights operated in June 2024.

The report details airline performance data, including on-time arrivals and mishandled baggage and wheelchairs and scooters. It aims to provide travelers with insights into airline service quality.
