Princeton Battlefield State Park, a National Historic Landmark, will be revitalized and preserved for future generations thanks to funding secured in New Jersey’s fiscal 2025 budget.
The American Revolutionary War site is known for the 1777 Battle of Princeton, a pivotal fight where General George Washington’s Continental Army defeated British forces. Today, the grounds serve as a state park and historical monument.
Senator Andrew Zwicker, D-Middlesex/Mercer/Somerset/Hunterdon; Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis, D-Somerset/Mercer/Middlesex/Hunterdon; and Assemblyman Roy Freiman, D-Hunterdon/Mercer/Middlesex/Somerset, secured $500,000 in the fiscal 2025 budget for the American Battlefield Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving America’s battlegrounds and providing history education.
The funding will go towards the planning and construction of a new, state-of-the-art Visitor and Education Center at the park. The center will feature exhibits showcasing the battlefield’s significance and will provide spaces and programming for heritage tourism and school field trips.
An additional $800,000 in the budget will improve visitor amenities and support restoring the Princeton Battlefield landscape to its 1777 appearance.
