Reason No. 5,281 we travel

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — The reasons for a getaway are apparent. Escape from the real world. The nonsense of work. Bills. Just everything related to the daily grind.

I’m sure there is some survey that proves this, but it doesn’t matter.

A journey has the opportunity not only to recharge the batteries but to reset the mindset. Visiting a special destination puts life in perspective.

Times may be tough. Some memories too hard to handle, but ones you don’t want to lose.

The daily grind is real. It’s unrelenting. Time is brutal, and if you get too caught up in the daily grind, time will pass you by without ceremony.

Island time is the perfect antidote

I’ve reflected on a lot these past few weeks. It hasn’t always been fun. But, life doesn’t always put the best choices in front of us. We have two options: run away or confront them.

I wish circumstances were different. But that’s the ultimate test in life.

Sometimes the journey is bumpy. Sometimes it goes off course, and there is no map showing the route back.

If you set the destination, you have the opportunity to make it about the journey, not the destination.
