The highly anticipated observatory atop the new One World Trade Center in New York City is set to open on May 29.
The observatory is located on floors 100, 101 and 102 and will give visitors a panoramic view of the Big Apple from an altitude of 1,250 feet. Visitors will access the perch on elevators that take a mere 60 seconds to climb to the top of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.
“On May 29, One World Observatory will officially open its doors to the public – offering visitors an inspiring and unparalleled opportunity to experience New York City,” David Checketts, chairman and CEO of Legends, operator of the Observatory, said in a news release. “From sweeping panoramic views, to innovative interactive exhibits, to world-class dining options, we expect One World Observatory to be the premier destination and attraction in New York City for both tourists and local residents.”
The main observatory space is on the 100th floor while three restaurants are located on the 101st floor. A catering and event space is located on the 102nd floor.
Between May 29 and Sept. 7, the observatory will be open from 9 a.m. until midnight. During non-summer hours, the deck will be open from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Tickets, which range from $32 for adults to $30 for seniors to $26 for children, went on sale April 8 and are available for dates between May 29 and Jan. 3, 2016. The observatory will offer free admission to 9/11 family members and also rescue and recovery workers, and special rates are available for groups of 20 or more and retired or active military members.
