A new app — available online and for the iPhone — aims to help travelers alleviate the stress associated with holiday travel.
NerdWallet’s TravelNerd is a comprehensive airport guide that lets travelers research and quickly find information about parking, transportation and airport airport terminals.
By using the online version of the app, travelers can compare airport parking prices, find parking coupons and look at detailed terminal maps to find restaurants, restrooms and other amenities. The app also lets travelers weigh transportation options by time and cost.
The mobile version of the app includes click-to-call transportation options, directions to parking lots and information about taxi sharing with other travelers headed in the same direction. The smartphone version also includes localized information about ways to save money on transportation.
“TravelNerd was created in response to an overwhelming need for a guide that helps travelers navigate the hectic nature of airports,” said Alicia Jao VP of Travel Media at NerdWallet. “As frequent travelers ourselves, we understand that air travel is more than just the flight. Getting to and from the airport and navigating the terminal can be time-consuming and expensive. With these challenges in mind, we created an easily-accessible resource to help consumers make informed travel decisions.”
TravelNerd currently has 50 of the busiest airports; more are expected to be added in the future. Currently, the Airport Guide app is only available on the iOS platform, the company said.
