ATLANTA – To be liberal is to travel and to be conservative is to stay at home?
Newly released data from online booking site OneTravel.com suggests residents of blue states travel more frequently, booking two-and-a-half times as many trips as residents of red states during 2012.
Of the 10 states with residents booking the most travel, six are blue, two are red and two are undecided. Conversely, of the 10 states with the fewest travel bookings, five are red; four are blue and one is undecided.
While the data suggests conservatives travel less, it also indicates red state residents average spending $46.28 more per booking than their counterparts in blue states. But, blue state residents travel in larger groups: Bookings from blue states averaged 1.45 people per booking compared to 1.36 people per booking by residents in red states.
