Survey: 92 percent planning to travel to see family

Americans remain optimistic when it comes to summer travel plans, as more than nine in 10 (92 percent) are planning to travel in the upcoming months to spend time with family, according to SpringHill Suites Third Annual Vacation Attitude Survey conducted by TNS.

The online survey of more than 1,000 people also revealed that 62 percent of vacationers will book their summer vacation in two months or less, and 36 percent will spend two hours or less planning their summer vacation.

“The American traveler is resilient, and people need their cherished summer break, whether they are going near or far,” Callette Nielsen, vice president and global brand manager for SpringHill Suites, said in a news release. “People’s expectations are the same, yet how and when they book has changed tremendously.”

The survey was conducted between March 13 and March 18.
