ATLANTA — AirTran Airways on Thursday unveiled Dolphin 1, a Boeing 737-700 aircraft themed to honor the new Dolphin exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium.
“AirTran’s early commitment to supporting the Aquarium began in 2005, and continues to this day,” said Bernie Marcus, benefactor, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Georgia Aquarium, said in a news release. “We’re very grateful to AirTran for their ongoing support and we’re very excited to celebrate the unveiling of Dolphin 1.”
Opening Friday, the $110 million AT&T; Dolphin Tales gallery and theater is the newest addition to the aquarium. The aquarium’s new bottlenose dolphins will be housed in a 1.8 million gallon habitat that also includes an 1,800-seat theater, open to guests who pay a premium.
“AirTran Airways is so proud of our long partnership with Georgia Aquarium,” AirTran Airways’ chairman, president and CEO Bob Fornaro said in a news release. “We are excited to add Dolphin 1 to the AirTran fleet and look forward to helping raise awareness of this world-class destination in our largest hub city.”
