Denison University will soon break ground on a new center that will integrate the liberal arts and data sciences.

The donor-funded Center for Data Reasoning & Visualization is expected to be completed in August 2026. It will be home to the computer science and data analytics departments.

The new center will result from renovating the 21,250-square-foot historic Doane Administration Building, completed in 1894 and named for manufacturer and philanthropist William Howard Doane, and a 17,700-square-foot addition.

The departments will host courses in applied mathematics, digital humanities, financial economics, and data for political research. It will integrate real-world problem-solving across the curriculum, exposing students to data study from every angle.

Officials said the new center should make Denison’s students more competitive for top internships and jobs.
