Enjoying a favorite bookstore one last time before it closes

WORTHINGTON, Ohio — Sometimes a favorite haunt in a city isn’t the local tourist trap, but a bookstore you’ve frequented for more than two decades.

For me, that place is — or now, sadly, was — the Village Bookshop in Linworth in the Columbus, Ohio, area.

I was sad to say good-bye to the Village Bookshop but had one last chance to visit this local landmark last month before it closed.

I’ve enjoyed the many books I purchased here over the years. I will think of this place every time I see these books on the shelf.

I can look at my bookshelf today and pick out the book I purchased here over the years — books about history, railroads and politics.
