Several VF Corp. leaders joined a group of more than 100 outdoor industry CEOs to pen a letter in support of public lands and against the potential privatization of national parks.
VF President & CEO Steve Rendle joined the presidents of six VF brands in signing the letter, which was published as part of an ad in The Washington Post.
“It is an American right to roam in our public lands,” they wrote. “The people of the United States, today and tomorrow, share equally in the ownership of these majestic places. This powerful idea transcends party lines and sets our country apart from the rest of the world. This is not a red or blue issue. It is an issue that affects our shared freedoms. Public lands should remain in public hands.”
The outdoor industry contributes more than $650 billion annually to the U.S. economy, generates $80 billion in tax revenue and employs more than 6 million people.
Participating VF brand presidents are Eagle Creek President Roger Spatz, JanSport President Steve Munn, lucy President Laurie Etheridge, Timberland President Jim Pisani, Vans President Doug Palladini and Vice President, VF Corporation & Group President, Outdoor & Action Sports Americas Scott Baxter, representing The North Face.
