A Congressman from Georgia is asking the Obama Administration to explore “American-made energy” before high gas prices affect families’ budgets.
In a statement, U.S. Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., accused the Obama Administration of stalling “the exploration of American-made energy” despite the uptick in gas prices.
“No doubt, the turmoil in the Middle East has had an impact on the recent spikes in energy prices, but the fact of the matter remains that this administration’s recklessly imposed barriers to American oil and natural gas undermines our economy and encourages our dependence on foreign imports,” Price, chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee, said.
“The production of current energy resources is being stymied while jobs and revenues are shifted overseas to foreign companies and nations,” Price added. “The irresponsible policies and inaction by this administration only act to burden an already struggling job market and economy. Considering today’s fiscal crisis, the White House should join Republicans in developing an ‘all-of-the-above’ energy plan which would encourage conservation, incentivize future innovation, and responsibly utilize existing U.S. resources.”
