On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the city of Roswell completed two land transactions, culminating years of efforts by the city.
The city sold the Old Lebanon Church property, a 2.78-acre plot, to Gateway of Roswell, LLC, for $1.3 million. City officials speculate the Old Lebanon Church property will be developed into several high-end restaurants.
In addition to the church property, the city of Roswell purchased the old mill site, a 4.58-acre plot, for $1.475 million.
The site includes the remains of a machine shop, part of Roswell’s historic mill. The mill will be incorporated into the city’s park system, serving as an access point to the Chattahoochee Recreation Area.
For years, the Old Lebanon Church property has stood untouched at the corner of Alpharetta Highway and Crossville Road. The property was purchased by the city of Roswell in December 1994 and has remained virtually unused.
Meanwhile, the old mill property site has stood the test of time. It has served as a historical relic of Roswell’s past and a key property that would be a crucial component of the Roswell parks system.
The parks system in Roswell was established in 1991.
