A group of climate protesters defaced Stonehenge with orange paint today.

“Orange powdered paint has been thrown at a number of the stones at Stonehenge,” English Heritage said in a Facebook post. “Obviously, this is extremely upsetting and our curators are investigating the extent of the damage. More updates to follow but the site remains open.”

According to reports, the protestors were arrested.

“These people have ruined a perfectly reasonable cause because of their unreasonable way of protesting,” one commenter said on Facebook. “It’s about time they started getting prosecuted and/or fined properly.

“When I went on a tour inside the circle, we were all specifically told not to touch the stones,” the commenter added. “In fact, they repeated that multiple times. So I imagine throwing orange paint at them has damaged them.”
