The city of Alpharetta saw a decrease in accident reports in 2001 compared to 2000, city police say.
The total number of accident reports decreased by 119 to 2,626 citywide, or an approximately 4 percent decrease.
The top five intersections in terms of accidents for 2001 are:
- Georgia Highway 400 and Mansell Road: Despite retaining the dubious honor of most dangerous intersection in Alpharetta from 2000, the intersection saw a decrease in accidents from 247 in 2000 to 168 in 2001.
- Georgia Highway 400 and State Route 120: Moved up from third despite experiencing a decrease in total accidents from 152 to 116.
- Georgia Highway 400 and Windward Parkway: Dropped to third and experienced a decrease in accidents from 136 to 83.
- Georgia Highway 400 and Haynes Bridge Road: Remained number four and saw a decrease in accidents from 116 to 75.
- State Route 120 and North Point Parkway: Replaces the intersection of Mansell Road and Old Alabama Road for Alpharetta’s number five most dangerous intersection. The fifth slot saw a decrease to 51 from 69.
