SMYRNA, Ga. — The Smyrna City Council’s new $92.4 million budget kicked in on July 1.
The budget represents a 6.5 percent decrease over last year, and officials touted that the budget contains no millage rate increase for the 12th straight year.
According to a newsletter from City Councilman Ron Fennel, chairman of the Finance/Administration Committee, the budget Allocates $1.2 million to replace the roof of the Community Center. It also adds 11 staff positions, most in public works and public safety, and gives all Smyrna employees a 1 percent pay raise.
The budget recognizes a $2.8 million surplus from the FY2017 budget.
