ATLANTA — A state lawmaker from the southernmost fringes of Atlanta’s exurbs wants a state authority to oversee Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, a new report suggests.

“The airport is the largest economic engine in the Southeast,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted state Sen. Bert Jones, R-Jackson. “We’re a state of about 10 million folks. I think we should at least have an operation that has folks from all over the state to have a say in how it is operated.”

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the world’s busiest airport. The proposal has little to no chance of approval.
