ATLANTA (defeo.biz) — Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport last year served more than 100 million passengers, the first airport ever to reach the 100 million mark.
Now, the number of people passing through the world’s busiest airport continues to rise. The airport during the first half of 2016 saw more passengers than it did during the first six months of 2015.
“We work every day to ensure our passengers are provided a safe, enjoyable and efficient travel experience,” interim Airport General Manager Roosevelt Council Jr. said in a news release. “Maintaining our status as the world’s most traveled and efficient airport is a testament to relationships we have with our tenant airlines, our concessionaire partners and all involved in the day-to-day operations at ATL.”
As of June 30, the airport saw more than 51.2 passengers. That represents a nearly 4.5 percent increase over 2015.
