Four to be inducted into Atlanta Press Club Hall of Fame

Four Georgia journalists will be inducted into the Atlanta Press Club Hall of Fame in November, the organization announced.

Former New York Times reporter Charlayne Hunter-Gault, one of the first two African-American students to enroll at the University of Georgia in 1961; Hank Klibanoff, former managing editor of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution; WABE-FM host Denis O’Hayer; and former Associated Press political reporter Dick Pettys, who died in 2012, are set to be honored during the Nov. 5 dinner ceremony held at the InterContinental Buckhead.

“These journalists have each made a lasting impact to journalism in Atlanta,” the Atlanta Business Chronicle quoted Lauri Strauss, executive director of the Atlanta Press Club, as saying. “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to honor these individuals and celebrate their contributions.”

Previous inductees include former New York Times reporter Claude Sitton, NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw and CNN co-founder Ted Turner.
