ATLANTA — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King are buried in a crypt at The Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change.
Dr. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tenn. He was initially buried in the historic South-View Cemetery in Atlanta near the graves of his parents. In January 1970, King was reinterred at the King Center.
An eternal flame burns near the King crypt.
