Walking Back in History

It’s a quiet summer morning; the canons at Fort Clinch are silent. They have been for many years.

The sign on the side of the train alerts visitors they are taking a step back in time. It’s now 1864.

The Civil War rages on with no end in sight. Union troops occupy the fort, which lies at the north end of Amelia Island and deep in the heart of the Confederacy.
