Federal investigators believe a fire intentionally set at a Winder-area church in December is unrelated to a recent spate of church arsons in Alabama.
In the past week, nine churches were set ablaze in rural Alabama, some in a similar fashion to New Life Deliverance Church Ministries in Winder. The investigation into the fire at New Life Deliverance Church Ministries near Winder remains “ongoing.”
Sometime before 3:50 a.m. Dec. 7, an arsonist, starting at the pulpit, poured gasoline down the center of New Life Deliverance Church Ministries before setting the fire, according to investigators. The blaze gutted the building’s sanctuary, but its exterior was not heavily damaged.
