New Jersey will enter a statewide state of emergency at 10 p.m. Saturday as a nor’easter is forecast to hit Sunday into Monday, Acting Gov. Tahesha Way announced.
Executive Order No. 399 covers all 21 counties and authorizes state emergency personnel to activate as needed until officials determine the emergency has ended.
Forecasters expect moderate to major coastal flooding, inland flash flooding, sustained winds up to 60 mph, up to five inches of rain, and very high surf that could cause significant beach erosion and dune breaches.
Officials urged residents to monitor local alerts, be prepared to follow any evacuation guidance, and avoid driving unless necessary during hazardous conditions.
