Republican Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced two new partnerships in Cincinnati aimed at curbing violent crime and bolstering public safety.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol will team with the Cincinnati Police Department on targeted initiatives that use intelligence from the city’s Crime Gun Intelligence Center to focus on high-crime areas. The patrol will also provide aerial support, with its Aviation Unit assisting ground teams through suspect searches and vehicle pursuit mitigation.

In addition, the Ohio Investigative Unit will step up enforcement at liquor establishments in problem areas, concentrating on illegal weapons possession and related crimes. State, local and federal officials joined DeWine at the announcement, underscoring the multi-agency effort to reduce violence in the city.
