Nashville, Tennessee, may be known for country music, but perhaps it should be known for its trees.
A new analysis, 2025’s Top Cities for Tree Huggers, ranked Music City USA as the best city in the nation for tree lovers. A trio of Georgia cities claimed spots in the top five.
The findings were included in a new analysis by Lawn Love, which evaluated the 500 largest U.S. cities across 14 metrics, including tree canopy coverage, pollinator policies and drought resilience.
Columbus, Georgia, placed second overall, Atlanta ranked third, and Athens came in fifth. Charlotte, North Carolina, ranked fourth.
Atlanta earned the top spot nationally for pollinator policies and drought index score, while placing 22nd for both tree canopy percentage and total canopy coverage in square kilometers. Other Georgia cities, such as South Fulton, Roswell, and Sandy Springs, also landed in the top 15.
