AccuWeather: Deep freeze, another winter storm are on the way

Large swaths of the country deal with winter weather, and major travel impacts and disruptions will continue through Monday night as a dangerous winter storm moves through the mid-Atlantic with snow, ice, and freezing rain.

“Snow falling at 1-2 inches per hour is very difficult for road crews and plow trucks to keep up with. Persistent and heavy snow bands could lead to accumulations of nearly a foot or more in some spots in the mid-Atlantic,” AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jonathan Porter said. “A second round of snow could impact the Monday evening commute in Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.”

AccuWeather expert meteorologists say a second winter storm could bring snow and ice to parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and into the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys later this week. It could be the most significant snow and ice event in some areas in several years.
