New Jersey Assemblyman Brian Bergen blasted White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, calling him an “idiot” for dismissing reports of nightly drone activity in New Jersey’s airspace.

During a White House press briefing Thursday, Kirby claimed neither federal nor local law enforcement could corroborate the reported drone sightings, suggesting many were likely lawful manned aircraft.

“We have no evidence at this time that the reported drone sightings pose a national security or a public safety threat, or have a foreign nexus,” Kirby said, according to CNN.

“That guy is an idiot,” Bergen fired back during an appearance on Fox News’ America Reports, accusing the Biden administration of ignoring serious national concerns.

For weeks, New Jersey law enforcement and residents have reported frequent drone sightings over restricted coastal airspace. The FBI is investigating, and the U.S. Coast Guard has also confirmed spotting drones during patrols. Despite the recurring incidents, federal officials have provided few answers, heightening public concern about potential security risks.
