Study: 70% of Americans make unplanned purchases at the airport

A recent study found that 70% of Americans make unplanned purchases at the airport.

The study from CardRates also revealed one in four travelers cited stress as leading them to make more impulse purchases. Additionally, more than a third (36%) bring food to avoid having to buy food at the airport.

How much money are Americans spending each time they fly? About $135, according to respondents.

Most travelers (66%) believe spending money at the airport before flying is part of the overall travel experience.
