More than two-thirds (69%) of New York City residents say Mayor Eric Adams should resign as mayor.
A mere 30% say Hizzoner should serve the rest of his term. The 69% who think the mayor should resign includes 71% of Democrats.
The finding is from Marist Poll, which conducted a poll from Sept. 30 to Oct. 1. Last week, the feds charged Adams with bribery, campaign finance, and conspiracy offenses.
“It’s hard to imagine how Mayor Adams could be faring any worse in the court of public opinion,” Dr. Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, said in a statement. “Not only do New York City residents think he has done something illegal, but they think he should resign or have Governor Hochul start the process of removing him from office.”
If Adams does not resign, 63% of residents say New York Governor Kathy Hochul should start the process of removing him from office.
