NJ Senate approves bill to create ‘Travel Advisory’ for reproductive care

The New Jersey Senate on Monday approved legislation that would establish a Reproductive Health Travel Advisory.

The Senate voted 25-14 in favor of S-3663. Proponents say the measure, sponsored by Democrats, would establish a way to inform those planning to travel to other states of the limitations and prohibitions on reproductive services.

The measure mandates the New Jersey Department of State create a Reproductive Health Travel Advisory as the source of information describing each state’s reproductive care policies. The information would include gestational duration bans, required waiting periods, insurance coverage prohibitions, medication abortion restrictions, constitutional protections, abortion funding availability, and criminal and civil liabilities for patients and healthcare providers.

Republican South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp did not respond to a previous request for comment on the measure.
