As travelers prepare for the unofficial start of summer, artificial intelligence could play a key role in travelers’ decision-making.

That’s according to Kat Fleischman, CEO at Do Tell PR.

Fleischman sees practical uses of AI for business travel, including cost optimization, personalized recommendations and expense management.

Cost optimization allows travelers to find “the best deals for flights and hotels since AI uses cost-effective routes, accommodations, and transportation options for businesses,” Fleischman told Sightseers’ Delight. At the same time, “AI can understand individual preferences and recommend tailored travel options, based on your likes and dislikes” for personalized recommendations.

Additionally, “AI can handle reporting and reimbursements for all of your travel expenses.”

Travelers can also use AI for smart travel planning and real-time assistance.

“AI can create personalized itineraries, suggesting activities based on preferences, and how to get there quickly,” Fleischman said. “Chatbots are just like a personal assistant whether you get lost or need details and direction.”

Fleischman added that AI can check real-time data for potential risks, provide alerts, and offer emergency assistance, helping allay travelers’ safety and security concerns.

Regarding the future impact of AI on travel, some trends Fleischman believes will surface are enhanced personalization, predictive analytics, automation in operations, AI-powered virtual travel assistants and improved sustainability.

“AI will offer tailored travel experiences based on individual preferences, behaviors, and feedback,” Fleischman said. “AI can predict travel trends, enabling businesses to adjust pricing, optimize resource allocation, and enhance overall service quality.

“Increased automation through AI will streamline various travel processes, from check-ins and security procedures to baggage handling, improving efficiency and reducing wait times,” Fleischman said. “Advanced virtual assistants will offer real-time recommendations, language translation, and even helping with cultural insights.”

Fleischman added that AI can contribute to fuel efficiency, help manage energy consumption in accommodations and promote eco-friendly travel options.
