Atlanta police arrested a 26-year-old woman on changes she poured gasoline on the Martin Luther King Jr. Birth Home on Auburn Avenue in Atlanta.

According to police, at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, Atlanta Police Zone 6 officers responded to a report of vandalism in progress at 501 Auburn Ave. NE.

Upon arriving on the scene, officers detained a female suspect who had been stopped by multiple citizens. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect had poured gasoline onto the property.

The suspect was placed under arrest for criminal attempt arson in the second degree and interference with government property.
