Forget talk of a Trump slump. What about a Trump bump?
Concerns that people would avoid visiting the United States because of Donald Trump’s travel ban rhetoric are unfounded, according to a report.
According to The Associated Press, U.S. Travel Association numbers show international travel to the U.S. grew 6.6 percent in April. May saw 5 percent growth over a year earlier.
“There is widespread talk of daunting challenges to the U.S. travel market—perception of the country abroad is mentioned most, but the strong dollar and slowing global economy are factors as well—yet the resilience of our sector continues to astound,” U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow said in a news release. “Tourism marketing efforts at the federal, state and local level undoubtedly deserve a large measure of credit, and policymakers need to be aware of the large dividends these programs are paying for economic activity, jobs and tax revenues.”
After federal judges struck down Trump’s travel bans, the Supreme Court last month ruled the Trump Administration can enforce most aspects of its travel ban.
