KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — What’s old is new again.
Airlines are once again offering meals on some domestic flights, a throwback to a time when traveling by air was more enjoyable.
American Airlines is the latest to join the party. The airline said it would offer free meals in its main cabin on some coast-to-coast flights starting May 1.
The meals will be available on flights between Los Angeles and New York, and between San Francisco and New York. Travelers will be offered a continental breakfast or a boxed meal with a sandwich wrap, kettle chips and dessert; the menu also includes a vegetarian option and a fruit and cheese plate.
“Some of our best customers fly our trans-continental routes and we want to give them a top-notch onboard experience,” Fernand Fernandez, vice president – global marketing, said in a news release. “Providing complimentary meals in the Main Cabin is yet another step we’re taking to enhance our service in this competitive market.”
