Putting the Peach back in the Bowl

ATLANTA — Well, isn’t this just peachy.

The bowl once know as the Peach Bowl before it was the Chick-fil-A Bowl once again has Peach in its name. The change, announced earlier this month, was necessary since the the use of a traditional moniker is required for the six top-tier bowls hosting the new football playoffs.

So, the bowl is once again the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, the name used from 1997-2005

“This is a remarkable day in our history when we can all come together as partners to celebrate these milestones,” Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl president and CEO, said in a statement.

“This not only represents the beginning of our new era in the College Football Playoff, but a reconnection to our history and tradition by bringing the peach back into our name,” Stokan added. “Chick-fil-A’s agreement with ESPN and the Bowl allows us to continue a 17-year relationship regarded as one of the most successful in the industry.”

In addition to the name change, the bowl also unveiled a new logo.
