Atlanta struggles to return to normal after storm

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — The Atlanta region struggled Tuesday to dig its way out of a snowstorm that paralyzed the city.

Portions of Interstate 285 south of the city were closed and a number of truckers spent the night camped in their rigs, WSB-TV reported. Interstate 285 on the north side of the city and Ga. Highway 400 barely had passable lanes 36 hours after the storm.

In Sandy Springs, emergency personnel were patrolling Ga. 400 checking vehicles on the side of the road to ensure no one was inside.

However, MARTA subway trains were running as of about 10 a.m. Tuesday.
