It’s just a ‘Cotton Pickin’ Fair’

It’s just a “Cotton Pickin’ Fair.”

The 73rd edition of The Cotton Pickin’ Fair is scheduled for this weekend. The festival takes place on the Gay Family Farmstead in Meriwether County.

The lineup for the family -friendly event includes shopping, dining and entertainment. The fair features antiques, art, photography, pottery, clothing and skilled artisans.

In addition, the fair’s promoters have promised an array of delectable southern foods – and everything is cooked on location– whether it be fried, baked, broiled or barbequed.

The Gay Family Farmstead was first settled in 1828 and includes farm structures dating from 1891-1920.

The Cotton Pickin’ Fair, which takes place every year in May and October, is sponsored by The 1911 Society Ltd. The Georgia non-profit corporation aims to support sustainable rural development through agricultural-tourism.

Admission to The Cotton Pickin’ Fair is $5 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 4 and 12. For more information, visit www.cpfair.org or call (706) 538-6814.
