Goo Goo Dolls Set to Rock Newport

After scoring big with the hit song “Iris,” from the soundtrack from the movie The City of Angels, the Goo Goo Dolls will bring their unique sound to the Newport Music Hall on High Street in Columbus on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998.

The price of tickets is $15.

The Goo Goo Dolls were formed in the mid-1980s by guitarist John Rzeznik. After adding a bassist and drummer to the lineup, The Goo Goo Dolls were ready to hit the big time.

Unfortunately for them, the public wasn’t. Their first studio release, self-titled, barely grabbed people’s attention.

From there, The Goo Goo Dolls went on to release four more studio albums, but they still did not receive the attention they deserved. Their break finally came in 1995.

After breaking through with their smash single, “Name,” off their fifth album, A Boy Named Goo, the Goo Goo Dolls began to make a name for themselves.

Their follow-up single, “Long Way Down,” was on the Twister Soundtrack as well as their fifth studio release.

The Goo Goo Dolls then launched a two-year tour. However, despite their initial success, The Goo Goo Dolls decided that they needed a break from touring and recording.

After taking this much-needed break, they returned with their sixth studio release, Dizzy Up the Girl.

Their latest release proves to be a musical turnaround for the band.

This break proved to be much more invaluable than the band initially thought.

Their newest single, “Iris, which also appeared on the soundtrack to the movie The City of Angels, topped charts all summer long.

After many years of recording and touring, the Goo Goo Dolls have finally become a name that people can recognize.

Consisting of a trio of John Rzeznik on guitars/vocals, Robby Takac on bass/vocals, and Mike Malinin on drums/vocals, the Goo Goo Dolls prove to be a very verstile band.

For any music fan or anyone who wants to see a solid rock the concert, this should be an enjoyable event.
