ATLANTA — The Buckhead Business Association (BBA) on Thursday, Aug. 18, honored a trio of public safety officers for their selfless commitment to the community.

The civic organization honored Atlanta Police Officer Jared Nuttall, Atlanta Fire Rescue Capt. Arthur Adkins and Fulton County Sheriff’s Detention Officer Kourtney King. The three, recognized during the BBA’s Signature Luncheon at 103 West, received Buckhead Life Restaurant Group gift certificates.

Nuttall, a Zone 2 officer, was honored for his role in the March 28 breakup of a crime ring in Buckhead. Adkins, a member of Truck Co. 21-C, was honored for helping fight a Feb. 7 house fire on Kingsboro Road. King was honored for a pair of actions, including her Feb. 22 decision to render life-saving CPR to an inmate who was not breathing.

“Traditionally, at this mid-year luncheon, the BBA takes the opportunity to honor specific individuals who have done something particularly special during the past 12 months,” Dr. Scott Allman, the BBA’s vice president of public safety and owner of Gallery 32 Dental Arts, told the crowd of more than 200. “The BBA supports this community. We have our businesses here, our clients live and work here and some of us live nearby.

“One of the attributes of a great community is safety of the public,” he added. “To provide the safe environment that makes this urban center of Buckhead and Atlanta a desirable one in which to live and work, we all rely on that great troika of public safety organizations: the Atlanta Police Department, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.”

The luncheon also featured a “State of Public Safety” with Atlanta Police Chief George Turner, Atlanta Police Foundation President Dave Wilkinson and FBI Special Agent in Charge J. Britt Johnson.
